RSS & Blogs

Bloggs seem like a great tool to get students involved more in discussions and for teachers to use for assignments. I'm sure many are already doing this. A library blog would be a great place for patrons to post book reviews and librarians to promote books and other tools.

I thought bloglines was the easiest to use for finding blogs and news feeds. I really didn't like the google search. Seemed like it just came up with a lot of stuff but maybe I didn't look at it close enough.

On to the next lesson.

Yes, I'm catching up...

I finally got in to the lesson on RSS feeds. I was planning on doing some of this on my home computer but of course it's acting up right now so I'm working on the patron pc. The things Alan has to say about Bill Gates and Microsoft are not repeatable here. He spent all of last night trying to do updates and thinks he finally has it working better.

Anyway back to RSS feeds. This is what I was most interested in learning about because I've looked at some of the many blogs out there but it's all kind of overwhelming. I added quite a few to my Google Reader including some news feeds from the Sioux City Journal. A person could get real carried away with adding items of interest. If I'm reading the Marcus, my hometown, blog and want to post my thoughts, I can just click and go right out to the blog itself. Just so cool...

Setting up this blog was really easy.

I've found some interesting blogs over the last few years but taking the time to look at them all stops me from keeping up with them. Besides just the learning opportunity, I'm really interested in learning about RSS feeds. Hopefully that will help. I'd like to see if can upload a picure from my home computer too. We'll see...
